Learning with horses

Short description

The subject of the project is the construction of a riding hall built of steel beams, in which this service can be offered all year round. The services include  earning-, dyslexia- and dyscalculia-, spelling-, reading- or arithmetic training, mental strengthening and relaxed learning.

Point of departure

Sabine Petz is operating a company specialized in horse husbandry in the municipality of Vils for around 10 years. To safeguard the business, she is now implementing a differentiation strategy and offering learning training with horses for dyslexics. For this, she completed relevant trainings (certified learning-, dyslexia/dyscalculia- trainer with horses). She is also a qualified mental trainer.

Targets and target groups

Through special exercises in connection with horses (listening exercises, balance training, memory training, leading horses on a rope), what has been learned is stored better in the memory and can be retrieved better under stress. Children acquire leadership qualities and gain self-confidence. Work is done in small groups with a maximum of three children or with individual children.  For working with children a special breed of horse (American miniature horses) is used.

Project implementation and measures

The topic of the project is the construction of a riding hall suitable for these services. This investment allows the training to be offered year-round and weather-protected, which allows a significant increase in turnover.

Results and effects

The number of participating children is continuously going up.

Erfahrung

The support during the project development up to the application and afterwards with the preparation of the billing was a necessary and large help.
