Short description

The project Youth workshop Außerfern offers young people a platform to express their concerns and wishes about special forms of youth culture and to discuss in an open participatory process with decision-makers.

The project gives young people access to new forms of expression of youth culture. Special attention is given to girls. Through hip hop dance workshops and a female rap show act, they are to lose their shyness and learn to express their concerns with self-confidence.

Point of departure

Starting from  the anniversary "30 Years Youth Centre Reutte" and following on from the strategic work on the subject of youth, including a large youth survey within the framework of the preparation of the LES Außerfern, the project Youth Workshop Außerfern offers young people a platform to express their concerns and wishes about special forms of youth culture and to discuss an open participatory process with decision-makers.

At the same time, this creates the conditions for the implementation of concrete measures. The project gives young people access to new forms of expression in youth culture. Special attention is given to girls. Through hip hop dance workshops and a female rap show act, they are to lose their shyness and learn to express their concerns with self-confidence.

Targets and target groups

Young people should learn to express their wishes and needs adequately and to discuss them with decision-makers in politics. Through the participation of young people, democracy can be experienced and important steps can be taken against the general disenchantment with politics and ignorance among young people.

Project implementation and measures

The project started in October 2015  with a two-day event of the youth centre Smile in cooperation with the local schools, the regional management and the state Tyrol/unit JUFF youth department. The results of the youth survey as well as the youth specific contents of the LES will be presented again and discussed in the form of a democracy workshop.

Following on from this, further proposals to deepen the strategy will be worked out. This democracy workshop will be supplemented by workshops in the field of youth culture. The young people learn to express their feelings and ideas through hip hop, breakdance, rap, graffiti, djing and producer workshops. There will also be a skate and basketball contest. The results of the Democracy Workshop will be presented and discussed to decision-makers at an event at the end of November 2015.

Results and effects

A group of young people has already held talks with Mayor Alois Oberer of the market town of Reutte to discuss the possible realisation of their proposed ideas. There is great dissatisfaction in the area of mobility.

For this reason, schoolgirls have chosen a youth survey on the subject of mobility as project for their secondary school certification. Work is currently underway to install the info corner in a youth centre in the Reutte market community.

Erfahrung

The support with the project development until the application and afterwards with the preparation of the billings was a necessary and important help.
