Further training as energy and mobility advisor

Short description

25 persons who have to care for others or are affected by other restrictions (e.g. mobility) receive further training as energy and mobility advisors Innergebirg/ in peripheral areas. Further training comprises 3 modules as well as networking across modules and helps participants enter the job market.

Point of departure

The Province of Salzburg promotes the possibility of energy consulting for private persons in the districts. In this way an even wider public is to be informed about and convinced of the ways of using renewable energy as a private person. The job of providing advice to the public is carried out on the one hand by the energy advisors of Salzburg AG and on the other hand by the energy advisors of the Office of the Provincial Government of Salzburg.
Presently, there are 30 advisors for on-site consulting for the entire Province of Salzburg. When people apply for such service, advisors are chosen according to technical and regional criteria. So far, there is no woman among these advisors, although some women from Salzburg hold the EBA certificate as energy advisors. In the area south of the Pass Lueg nine persons are working in the field of energy consulting.

Targets and target groups

Three major goals are to be achieved: (1) Creating qualified job opportunities in rural areas, in particular for women. (2) Improving the information and training standards of persons who have to care for others to extend the usual form of the energy consulting service to include also other tasks of energy and mobility consulting: Development of information material for energy-related education in schools and kindergartens. For this purpose, a pedagogical concept should be worked out. (3) Extending the topic of energy to include not only apartments/houses but also mobility is highly topical. Individual traffic is responsible for about 12 percent of the CO2 emissions in the European Union. Persons having to care for others are particularly strongly affected by the reduction of local public transport. The objective is to establish a mobility module in energy consulting with which to include the creative potential of persons concerned in the discussion.

Project implementation and measures

Further training comprises 3 modules and networking across modules and helps participants enter the job market. The first module (A course) consists of 50 teaching units and takes place on three weekends. The second module (F course) consists of 120 teaching units and takes place on eight weekends.
This module also requires participants to write a project paper and to prepare instructions for ten individual consulting cases. The third module comprises a special course on mobility consulting and integrates participants in the existing or developing network of energy and mobility advisors. The objective is to link up existing knowledge and to generate new know-how in the framework of project work. Modules 1 and 2 close with board examinations.
