Short description

In the area of Mandlwand – Arthurhaus at the foot of the Hochkönig a 3D archery course is planned. It will be available both in summer and in winter and thus will be an additional attraction for the tourism destination and its guests. The course will be designed in a way that those interested can book a guided tour with a trainer or, after a short introduction, can walk along the course on their own. Also professional archery training will be offered.

Point of departure

The tourist community Mühlbach has suffered a decline of overnight stays over the past few years. Numerous activities have been launched to develop new offers for holiday-makers. Archery is presently still a fringe discipline, but is gaining popularity.
As it is becoming more difficult to attract guests and/or to keep them in the region, rising numbers of attractive vacation programmes are needed. As an additional offer, a 3D archery course with 32 figures is planned and implemented. Thanks to the special landscape around the “Arthurhaus”, directly at the foot of the Hochkönig, the course can be called unique. It is planned to operate it over the entire year (not fully in wintertime) so as to create an additional attraction for the municipality and its guests.

Targets and target groups

Archery hunting is derived from the hunting of wild animals in open nature. The targets are fake animals made of foams (so-called “3D targets”); visitors will take about 3 to 4 hours to walk along a course and shoot with arrows at 28 to 32 targets. The archery course at Mühlbach near the Arthurhaus is to offer an additional holiday activity and an attraction for the guests and local people in the region. It is to appeal to the following target groups: Families with children, adults and business companies (incentives).
The course will be designed in a way that those interested can book a guided tour with a trainer or, after a short introduction, can walk along the course on their own. Especially children and young people enjoy archery greatly; for this reason a course programme specifically targeting “children” should be offered.

Project implementation and measures

Measures and activities planned in the project:
1.) Organising the course (planning of the trail and the archery course), place for warm-up exercises
2.) Purchasing of the 3D figures and the equipment for hire
3.) Public relations: Site map, route map, info flyer, score card, website

The trail is developed in cooperation with an expert (Outdoor Team Geissler).
