Short description
"Young people today don't know anything about food and don't care about cooking. Not at all! A team of young people develops a story in which the topic of food is considered from the point of view of young and old.”Point of departure
The production of a film is the medium for dealing with the subject: from the joint script to the film technique and the shooting days to the editing of the final version.Before the film presentation, the highlight of the concluding Youth cooks! session, it's time to create a menu, plan events and cook up together.
The project "Youth cooks!” comprises four workshops, small group meetings and the closing event between March and July.
Youth cooks! is a cooperation of Leaderregion Wels Land, the Medien Kultur Haus MKH and the Putti-Hof.
Targets and target groups
The participants gather all the relevant information about "Eating from the point of view of old and young" about the topics "regional food / purchase offer vs. purchase decisions / self-sufficiency, cooking, ...". They develop a story in which the topic is looked at from different angles.Young people get to know the medium of film as a conveying tool. This includes the debate on content, the research of contexts, the filmmaking and the implementation of the "story" by the participants.
The theme in its facets is conveyed creatively and in a youthful way. In addition, the bridge to the future topic of regionality is opened up as a matter of course.
Young people will be introduced to the Leaderregion Wels Land and the topic "Rural Development" through the campaign.
Project implementation and measures
"Developing the content together and producing a film combined with cooking and eating is an ideal format to bring regional delicacies and sustainability closer against the background of perspectives from different generations".The creative, critical work in developing the script, interviews and films up to planning, shopping and cooking gives the young people insights into the complex interrelationships of regional production and food supply.
"Youth cooks!" takes place in the world of young people. Through the project, rural development gains access to the field of interest of this target group.
Young adults from the Youth cooks! team are involved in groups from which new project ideas are very likely to emerge.
