The Drau cycle path and the Lunga via delle Dolomiti along the rivers Boite and Piave are used by thousands of cyclists in high season. Many guests spend the summer months repeatedly in the Dolomiti Live holiday destination.

Point of departure

In order to propose to guests new excursion destinations and in times of the increasingly popular e-bike tourism to offer also small challenges off the main route, these are to be brought to attention with the current travel magazine. For the first time, this will make it possible to present the cycle path network from the southern border of the Dolomiti Live Territory via the South Tyrolean Val Pusteria to the Hohe Tauern National Park in East Tyrol.

The partners expect new streams of visitors and the upgrading of points of interest that are not located directly on the cycle path. To promote the cross-border Dolomiti Live region, the magazine will be enclosed in Italian and German magazines before the booking and travel period.

Targets and target groups

To better guide the streams of visitors and to be able to draw precise statistical conclusions about the individual routes and sections, compatible counting stations need to be set up at neuralgic points. A group of experts will work out the basics when it comes to the location of counting stations, what infrastructure is needed for them and how data can be made exchangeable and useful. These should then serve in a follow-up project to build the necessary counting stations or to update existing ones to the latest state of the art in terms of data exchange.

Project implementation and measures

The cooperation of the partners from East Tyrol, Val Pusteria and Alto Belluno guarantees a focused cooperation in the sense of Dolomiti Live.
